SHABBAT BALAK 2014
The rumors of us building an Ark at camp are premature. It sure did rain at the beginning of the week, but all of our campers walked around in raincoats and boots and stayed as dry as possible. Now the sun has come out for a few days, everything is green and the sky is blue.
Kallah and Tzofim have been working on learning more about North American Jewish life and getting to know more about our national history. This fits right into the Fourth of July and our tryouts during the week for the Star Spangled Mesibah – the talent show produced by Tiferet which will be going on tomorrow night, followed by fireworks!!!
Moshavah was on their trips when the sky opened up throughout the State of Wisconsin, but between their counselors expertise and the campers enthusiasm to stay safe, everyone came back from biking, hiking, rock climbing and canoeing in great shape. Now, of course, they are getting ready for their final trip leaving on Monday.
Chalutzim experienced Yom Tzahal (Army Day), when our Israeli staff taught them about life In the Israeli army and how they all learned their various specialties, ranging from intelligence to education. They are well on the way to putting the finishing touches on for FestiKayitz – our own Summerfest. Parents will get to see all that they have learned these past few weeks during Yom Horim (Parent’s Visiting Day) on July 13th. Chalutzim Parents: If you haven’t yet RSVP’d to Rosh Eidah Micah Brandhandler, please be sure to do that: osrui.chalutzim@gmail.com.
Tiferet is working on the Mesibah mentioned above and campers are deep into their art as well. Ohad Sha’altiel, our Arts Director, is back in camp from Israel and has come with lots of great ideas.
There are lots more activities and programs going on and we hope you’ve been reading about them on the OSRUI blog and seeing all the photos that have been put up this week. Now we are all preparing for Shabbat and a great weekend, and we hope that you are too.
Shabbat Shalom from all of us at OSRUI!
