By Aliza Ainis, Rosh Eidah of Tzofim

Yesterday was an amazing day in Tzofim! In the morning, we hopped on the bus and went to a dairy farm and it was spectacular. We got there around 11:30am and we ate lunch and met some of the farmers who were going to give us tours. The main farmer introduced herself and told us all about how the farm was created and the work that they do. The farm is a family dairy farm that has been passed down for three generations.

There were three parts to the tour. Part one was learning about chickens and how they are born. The second part consisted of going to the chicken and duck coop where all of the campers got to play hold baby chickens and ducks. Every camper got to experience feeding goats and milking cows too! The third part of the tour was a hayride where the farmers told us all about farming equipment and what different machines are used for. The farmers told us all about the cows and how they are raised and made into dairy cows. The campers and staff learned so much and had a blast! I couldn’t have asked for a better field trip or day!

In this upcoming week we will be having erev ohel (tent night) and each ohel will participate in a bonding activity with their fellow tent-mates. We have another all-camp talent show this week called Festikayitz, hosted by Chalutzim, that helps us explore Israel while campers have the opportunity to showcase their talents to the whole camp. All of the acts are based off of Israeli, in Hebrew, or about Jewish history. We will conclude the session with Shabbat this weekend, which is always the best time of the week!
It is amazing how quickly this session has flown by, but it is only because it has been such a blast! We look forward to continuing to make this week the best it can be!
