Name: Lizzy Scheinkopf
Position at camp: Moshavah Rosh Eidah (Unit Head)
Years on staff: 6
Total years at OSRUI: 13

What do you do when you’re not at camp?
I recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I studied History and African Studies. In the fall, I will be moving to Chicago and participating in a year-long Jewish social justice program called AVODAH: The Jewish Service Corps (not to be confused with OSRUI’s Avodah Corps)! Through AVODAH, I will be working at The ARK, a social service facility for impoverished Jews in the Chicagoland area.

What is your favorite part of camp and why?
I love when the whole camp comes together for Shabbat. It is the best part of the week!

What is your favorite meal at camp?
Baked oatmeal for breakfast is delicious and nutritious.

What is one thing about you that would surprise people?
I am a song lyric enthusiast and have a knack for memorizing all of the words to songs such as Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start the Fire.”

What is your favorite memory at OSRUI?
It is so difficult to choose my favorite memory at OSRUI since there have been so many! One that stands out however is performing in Oconomostock when I was a Kallah camper in 2000.

What keeps bringing you back to work at camp?
Camp helped me to grow into the person that I am today and I am forever grateful for that. By returning to camp every summer, I can help to nurture that same development for my campers.

What do you hope to accomplish this summer at camp?
This summer I hope that I can spend time getting to know each camper individually.

Anything else you want people to know?
My favorite food is sandwiches.
