This past Commemorate48 Study Weekend was truly wonderful, as we honored Jerry and Paula and celebrated their 48 summers at OSRUI.

I am excited to connect with today’s camp community, honor the traditions that have made OSRUI special, and work to lead camp forward into its 67th summer and beyond. OSRUI families are the heart of this community. I am excited to see familiar faces and meet many of you for the first time.

We were very fortunate to have professional photographer Chime Costello with us periodically this summer.  Chime is incredibly gifted, and we are so thankful that she shared her talents with us.  She created a slide show of her own personal favorites that we wanted to share with the entire OSRUI community. 

After a week of trips, marathon week, Carnival, zoos, hiking, climbing, biking, canoeing, water balloon fights, etgar (the challenge course), limudim (Jewish learning), ivrit (Hebrew), t’filot (services), pools, lakes, water slides, horses, and so much more, Shabbat is here, a sacred and beloved time at camp. Before we get clean and we put on our Friday night best one last time, before we join together in prayer, before we tune our guitar strings and warm up our voices, before we prepare to rest, we take a look back at the incredible 8th and final week of Summer 2017.

As part of the July 30th concert honoring Jerry and Paula, a video was created that included interviews with Jerry and Paula, their daughters Michelle Silverman and Rabbi Leora Kaye, and a few of the many whose lives they touched during their 48 years at OSRUI.

It was an amazing week at OSRUI, starting with Oconomostock, the all-camp talent show hosted by Tzofim, and including programs in Chalutzim and Moshavah about the Israel National Trail, the first ever Gesher climbing trip, Tiferet’s trip to the sculpture garden, mitzvah projects let by Kallah, and a taste of home for Tour La’Agam.
