Shalom from the Future (Atid) of OSRUI !!!
The chanichim (campers) have been tubing, horseback riding, and climbing the high ropes. We’ve also been learning lots of cheers and singing silly songs.
Shabbat Shalom from OSRUI!
Camp is coming to a close this Sunday, with all of our campers saying their tearful goodbyes (and lots of the staff as well) and looking forward to next year. It has been a wonderful and exciting week topping off a fabulous summer.
Changed for the Better
As many of us know, Jewish camp can change our lives for the better. It gives our youth an opportunity to experience life outdoors with wonderful friends, role models and programs– on their own terms, but with a Jewish lens. At OSRUI, between swimming, horseback riding, experiencing and leading inspiring tefilot, learning Ivrit, and spending time with cantors, educators, rabbis and Israeli shelichim, our youth develop a strong sense of who they are and who they want to be.
Three Weeks at Camp on Faculty!
One staff member, who is thinking about going to Hebrew Union College to become a Hebrew professional, this summer asked if I could stay on at OSRUI as faculty until she had graduated college, did a gap year program, found some employment, then went to HUC and came back to OSRUI so we could faculty together.
The Last Few Days of Summer!
O S R U I – is still in full swing and doing quite well!
The Last Week of Camp
More important is the feeling in the air as we enter the last week of summer at OSRUI. There is still a lot of fun to be had, but there is a little wistful feeling too. Though it’s only Tuesday, the anticipation for the last Shabbat is already growing.

Maccabiah…Good for the Soul
by Rabbi Scott Segal, Moshavah Segel (Faculty) Yesterday was Maccabiah (color war) on camp, when the chanachim (campers) break into four color teams (red, green, yellow and blue) and engage in a variety of sporting and artistic endeavors. There is much to love about...
Shalom from Kallah Gimmel!
Time has been flying because…WE’RE HAVING FUN!!
Finding God in a Field of Wildflowers
But most of all, I learned that my job at camp was to be accessible when a kid wanted to talk to a rabbi about God, about illness, about being a Jew.
Splendor in Tiferet
Today I learned that the beauty of the Tiferet arts unit at OSRUI is not only its glory in the arts. It is its glory in appreciating the natural world and our place in it.
