Tzofim Bet Begins!
We have a busy, exciting and fun two weeks ahead of us and we are all looking forward to everything that is coming our way!
OSRUI Staff: Heroes
Read about the heroism of our staff as they saved lives during a fire in downtown Oconomowoc.
Week 2 in Chalutzim!
We have also been working very hard on our Ivrit and we are all improving so much! To kick it up a knotch, we are kicking off a unit competition between the tzrifim to see who can speak the most Hebrew during the summer.
Teaching Under a Tree in a Superhero Costume
None of us would want to miss being at OSRUI for the weeks that we are here because of our passion for the important Jewish learning that happens at camp and the opportunity to make a difference.
Shabbat Shalom from OSRUI!
It’s been quite a week at OSRUI, with Slip ‘N Slide, Ice Cream Box Socials, Yom Avodah, the Milwaukee Art Museum and lots more. Have a wonderful Shabbat and we will too!
A Camping Trip, the Jewish Way
We also took turns offering a t’filat haderech (travelers’ prayer) as we began a new leg of our journey. Their prayers were beautiful. They prayed for strength, for an energetic spirit, and that they would continue to intensify their friendships after the trip.
A New Way to Think About Brushing Teeth
I paused; she had a point. For years I had given teeth-brushing as an example of repeated action that was not ritual. Now I had to rethink my examples.
A Hot Day in Oconomowoc!
The weather forecast for today is showing that the temperature could near triple digits in Oconomowoc and it certainly feels hot here already. To combat the heat we have a special schedule in place for the day to make sure that the kids stay cool and hydrated.
A Busy Beginning in Tiferet!
This group of Tiferet chanichim is truly remarkable. I am constantly impressed by their maturity, positive energy, and ruach (spirit)!
Opening Day Highlight Video!
Check out this short video about opening day last week put together by our Media Department at camp!
A Great Second Week in Tzofim!
It is sure to be a great week, with more great evening programs, lots of great meals, our second Shabbat, and more time doing all of the amazing, fun things that OSRUI has to offer!
Yom Kallah-Tzofim!
In the end, it was clear that the goal (of the program, and really, of camp) was not really the tallest tower, but working together–even with others who they had met only a few minutes before–and finding creative ways to do seemingly simple tasks.
Weaving Judaism Through Life at Camp
I just feel so incredibly fortunate to share the experience of living a rich Jewish life with your kids. It’s powerful. I know that we are changing lives here at OSRUI because it has definitely changed mine.
Torah in Tevas
Gone are formal sermons, outlook calendars and high heels! I’ve been spending my days in Tevas, running around camp with chanichim (campers) and teaching Torah on ladders, in the pool and in an outdoor sanctuary surrounded by a grove of trees.
Week 2 of Kallah!
After a great Shabbat and seeing a performance from the Israeli Scout Caravan, Kallah has an amazing second week in store!
